The product I designed for was hot sauce by the Backstreet Boys. The Backstreet Boys are a boyband group of originally six members but now five. The group is from Orlando, Florida.
Currently in the United States, a phenomenon trend/challenge of finding the next spiciest food items is on the rise. On the hot sauce market the top manufacturers in 2024 are: Pepper Sauce, Aunt May’s, Schwartz, Encona, Tabasco, Frank’s, Hot-Headz, Marie Sharp’s, Walkerswood, Purple Pepper Hot Sauce, Dave’s Gourmet, and Biona. Hot sauce is generally on the healthier side (less sugar) and predominately uses Habanero's, Green Chili, and red chilis.
According to MRI Simmons, consumers in the United States are exhausted from celebrity branding and promotion of product. Hence, why I chose to go for a more obscure way of promoting the Backstreet Boys. Using their icon sloughiest synonymous to themselves.
Creative Ideation: All of the band members are from Florida. The members personalities include being warm, likable, and friendly. Backstreet Boys target audience is millennials between the ages of 26-32 y/o. I explored each band members personality, music taste, free time, and home life. What I gathered from the research was the group is predominantly mid 40 y/o men aspiring to spread happiness and nostalgic memories to their millennial fans. It is also very important to mention, back in the 90's, The Backstreet Boys were notorious for making teen girls swoon and faint at their concerts, hence my tagline "They'll make Ya Faint". The inspiration from my tagline was deprived from the many love songs the BSB have in their catalogue including, "I'll Break Your Heart", "Larger Than Life", and one of the top charting songs "Everybody", has the notable line "Bring the Flavor", leading to my hot Sauce "Bring da Flava". Attached below are my original Ideas and then the final product.
The Bottle shape: I selected the dropper tube to give of the effect that the product is so spicy, one only needs a little drop to go a long way.
